2025 IBC Golden Voice Awards: Obong-Egbuna, Nwanne, Nwachukwu, Others For Honours, Feb. 13 In Imo.

Former Director General, Imo Broadcasting Corporation,IBC, Late  Esther Obong-Egbuna (aka Sister E), Colman Nwanne, Ethelbert Nwachukwu are among other former staff of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation, who are to be honoured by the corporation  in recognition of their immense contributions to the establishment during and after their active service.

Speaking on the forthcoming event, the Director General of the corporation, Ms Ify Onyegbule, while chatting with Journalists in her office ,weekend , said that the event is the first of its kind in the history of the establishment.

The Director General explained that the management in trying to find a way of recognizing some veterans, came up with the idea of the awards to those who had used their time and talents to educate, inform and entertain the Imo public through their various programmes.

She observed that Journalists are barely celebrated despite their selfless services to the society, hence the decision to come up with the idea.

Onyegbule promised to ensure that the programme would be sustained as an annual ritual where people in the Media profession would be specially celebrated  for their contributions towards the progress of journalism practice especially, in the Broadcast Media.

The DG  also informed that Governor Hope Uzodinma who will deliver the keynote address on the event, would  be honoured with life time achievement award along side some Government Appointees  who will be given special recognition award for their contributions to governance in the state.

The event , scheduled for Thursday, February 13 , will take place at the IBC headquarters in Owerri,the Imo state capital.
